There are people who are satisfied with the body they are born with, but not everyone lives with this same idea. Some people go to great lengths and even consult a cosmetic surgeon to enhance their body parts, but that’s too expensive for most people. For the average person, there are only certain limits to cosmetics, health, and beauty.
Today’s society highly values physical appearance, after all. Judgment on appearances is not limited to the entertainment industry. Sadly, this is part of anyone’s daily life. You hear people commenting about a colleague’s bad hair, or somebody else’s dark armpits. While good hygiene is indeed essential to anyone, today’s beauty standards have made it hard for some people to live in peace.
These “judgments” have somehow gone a bit too far, pushing people to alter their appearances. While some alterations are minimal, they do maintain their looks and even spend money on their beauty visits. If you’ve ever wondered about what people want changed in their body, here are four common body parts that they target.
Hair
Men need a haircut at least once a month, unless he wants to start wearing it long. Women on the other hand can somehow survive without a haircut for three months. However, having great hair is equated to being beautiful these days. There are various hair coloring options available in the market today, ranging from ash brown to dark red to even the undercuts and purples and green, depending on one’s preferences. Men spend a lot of money on simple haircuts, too. After all, it does feel good to take care of your hair once in a while.
Eyebrows
There are hundreds of makeup products made especially for the eyebrows. Perfect eyebrows are in these days, especially among women. Some men also go to the salon to have their eyebrows plucked. If women who are natural brunettes had their hair colored to light brown, they are also advised to color their eyebrows with a darker shade of brown. And when the roots start to show, they will visit the salon again to reapply the hair color products.
Face
Some people are blessed with clear faces, but not everyone is so lucky. There are people who suffer from acne breakouts even beyond their teenage years. This can be due to stress, lack of sleep, or just good old genetic makeup. People visit dermatologists for acne treatment, to clear blackheads, and in general to have a clearer face. After all, your face represents how you take care of yourself, and it doesn’t hurt to take care of it if it needs caring.
Skin
While preferences vary on culture, most people want to change their complexion these days, too. Darker people seem to want lighter skin tones, and pale, whiter people go to great lengths to get a healthy-looking tan. People spend a lot of money on skin whitening or tanning lotions, creams, or sessions, and it’s amazing how much effort they put into changing their skin color.
Should you ever decide to change any of these body parts of yours, consult a doctor first and do your own research to protect yourself.
