YEARS ANNIVERSARY OF KONZERTHAUS IN VIENNA |
| The
Konzerthaus in Vienna celebrated on January 15th and 16th,
2013 its 100 years anniversary. The Szymanowski Quartet
performed to this very special jubilee in Mozart Saal
works of Haydn und Szymanowski as well as the String Quartet
"El Zahir" of Simone Movio (commission work
of the Wiener Konzerthaus). |

| In
December 2012 came out the newest CD of the Szymanowski
Quartet with polish late romantic music. The recording
of Piano Quartet of Wladyslaw Zelenski (1837-1921) and
Piano Quintet of Juliusz Zarebski (1854-1885) is a result
of cooperation with the pianist Jonathan Plowright. |

BBC Music Magazine distinguished the recording as "CD
of the month". |

THE
5th CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL IN LVIV |
For
the fifth time, the LVIV MUSIC FESTIVAL, initiated 2008
by the Szymanowski Quartet, will take place between September
6th and 9th, 2012. Having chosen Lemberg as the home for
this project, the quartet directs attention to a city
which is located at the border between the Ukraine and
Poland and is a World Heritage Site of the UNESCO.
Accordingly, the Szymanowski Quartet also aims at contributing
to an active cultural exchange and therefore invites renowned
colleagues for common concerts. |
This
year the quartet welcomes guests such as Alissa Margulis,
Valery Sokolov (violine), Lily Maisky, Jonathan Plowright,
Igor Tchetuev (piano), Bruno Monsaingeon (violine, viola),
Misha Maisky (cello) und Roby Lakotos Ensemble and promises
to present a very colourful and diversified programme.

Quartet follows the tracks of its patron through three
of the most important European music centres at the beginning
of the 20th century, is available on the CAvi-Music label. |

second stop of this musical journey is Vienna. Not only
Szymanowski will be celebrated on these recordings, but
also further composers, having been popular at the time
of Szymanowski's journeys as well as those whose music
have been of direct influence on Szymanowski. |

4th CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL IN LVIV |
| For
the fourth time, the LVIV MUSIC FESTIVAL, initiated 2008
by the Szymanowski Quartet, have taken place between September
22nd and 25th 2011. |

the quartet welcomed guests such as Valery Sokolov (violine),
Igor Tchetuev (piano), Alexander Pavlovski (violine, viola),
Martin Owen (horn), Nicholas Daniel (oboe), Geza Hosszu
Legocky and The 5 DeViLs and Maestro Bruno Monsaingeon.

SZYMANOWSKI
QUARTET AND KIT ARMSTRONG |
| On
February 12th, 2011 the Szymanowski Quartet will play
the world premiere of a string quartet by Kit Armstrong
on the occasion of the festivities for Alfred Brendel's
80th birthday. The work has been commissioned by the Gewandhaus
Leipzig and is dedicated to the Szymanowski Quartet. Alfred
Brendel himself reads poems from "Spiegelbild und
schwarzer Spuk". Besides the world premiere Haydn's
Emperor's Quartet (Szymanowski Quartet) as well as Mozart's
Piano Quartet G Minor K 478 (Kit Armstrong, piano) are
part of the evening's musical programme. The concert at
the Mendelssohn-Saal of the Gewandhaus starts at 8:00
pm. |
On
February 24th Kit Armstrong and the Szymanowski Quartet
will perform at the Brahms-Saal of the Musikverein Vienna,
where they celebrate the Austrian premiere of the new
string quartet. Furthermore, they present works by Haydn,
Mozart and Beethoven.
The concert starts at 7:30 pm. |

listeners to Vienna and Moscow. |

THE
QUARTET ENTHUSES FROM NEW YORK TO VANCOUVER |
After
concerts in New York, Montréal, Vancouver and La Jolla,
the Szymanowski Quartet will close their highly successful
US/Canada-tour with a concert in Los Angeles.
Already on March 16th, the Szymanowkski Quartet gave an
extraordinary starting short to their tour at New York's
Frick Collection with a highly-acclaimed concert. Also
in Vancouver and Montréal press and audience were exalted.

SZYMANOWSKI
YEAR 2007 |
|
2007 the Szymanowski Quartet celebrated a very special
jubilee: the 125th birthday as well as the 70th obit
of the polish composer Karol Szymanowski, whom they
were named after. Both of this composers String Quartets
as well as his Nocturne & Tarantella form the central
theme of several concert programs in the season 2007/08.
